I was at a friends house for dinner last night, he is what you call in politicly correct terms now, South Asian. Anyway, when I was there I heard the radio, it was 'Milad FM' there was a talk from a 'South Asian' woman about the stages of childhood in the Muslim community. I am currently a University student studying Social Sciences. When I was at my friends house, his father was there listening to this station, he turned it off. I asked my friend if he could turn it back on as at the moment I'm doing a paper on childhood and youth. His father was very adamant that it stayed off. It was eventually put back on. To cut the story short, I was absolutely appalled with what was being said. The overall message you got was, outside the Muslim community was just total evil and why Muslim child were getting into trouble was no fault of their own but because of society outside of Muslim community!
That to me is wrong!! If that was for example, Jonathan Ross or a matter of fact just a white person saying this but in reverse, they would be named and shamed in the media, strung up by their genitalia for being racist!
So my question is, why is it so different when racism is on the other side of the coin?
I find that in today's society that politicly correct has gone too far, and that today's generation of white people are an easy target.
I did a course at University on Race and Ethnicity and for 8weeks of the 11 week module, it was complete white bashing. Why are today's generation still picking up the pieces and being scrutinised.
